Turning Setbacks into Comebacks: The Power of the Journey Back!

Turning Setbacks into Comebacks: The Power of the Journey Back!

What is a Journey Back?

The Journey Back are those individual stories of ours manifesting through discomforting experiences which require time to be articulated and resolved.

When lived authentically, the Journey Back is an experience by which we attain true liberation and peace. Ideas gained from the Journey Back gives us the purpose to Journey Forward.

The Journey Back can manifest through personal, social or even global experiences such as the pandemic, environmental challenges (e.g global warming), or period of socio-cultural changes, hard-times which are indeed opportunities beckoning breakthrough and freedom. It is often global ordeals which filter down and can cause personal disruptions such as loss of loved ones, loss of jobs, family struggles, internal strife, mental disorders and addiction.

In fact, we experience the Journey Back through the necessities and realities of our individual lives, in our families, at our workplace, in our social lives and in every circumstance of our lives when we are faced with the frustration of discomforts and waiting.

It is important to have the right individual and collective mindset in tackling this Journey Back because they are real opportunities to bloom. Such experiences call for accountability, but they also present the chance to move forward and up in order to be free.

How Should We Make the Journey Back?

To refuse the responsibility to Journey Back by avoiding the work it entails would portend a far harder, longer and riskier labour with the wrong mindset. This in turn may lead us returning empty handed. Whereas those who take up the responsibility of the Journey Back, even in their weakness, often arrive at the liberating aspect of finding purpose within their individual capacities of life’s journey.

Of course, this Journey Back is not an easy task. We all have an aversion to stress. Suffering takes its toll on the human psyche, and we do not know how to cope in situations of extreme discomfort. Few have any motivation to work against blatant friction and torque. However, experience points to the reality of lessons and momentum gained from such journeying back are necessary resources needed to maximise the energy for a forward conquest.

Why does the downturn weigh so much?

How does it seem like there are multitudes who look at life from the perspective that they are ‘losers’ and nothing else can be done? Why do many people seem stuck on the losing side? Why do we give up on success? What happens when we are down and we see no freedom in sight?

I, in my book, Bloom Through Chaotic Times offer suggested principles when practiced and applied during these periods of imposed changes will enhance our success and freedom out of chaos.

The Journey Back is positive in nature because it seeks to heal when we undertake the required work. When we refuse to implement the necessary discipline, it becomes a backward spiral, and this is where regression sets in. Let us remember the Journey Back is not a backward journey, it has a forward trajectory.
